Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 12, 2025

Chautari Hub makes it easy to follow Nepali news in one place. We respect the work of original publishers and we respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control the information that is shared with us.

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to all Chautari Hub web properties, including the main experience at chautarihub.com and any subdomains operated by our team. It does not apply to the external news outlets we link to; each publisher manages its own privacy practices.

2. Information we collect

We collect the minimum amount of data needed to keep Chautari Hub reliable and personal. Depending on how you use the site, we may receive:

  • Account details. If you sign in with Google or email, we receive your display name, email address, and a unique identifier. We store only the identifier and the preferences you set (saved articles, followed sources, language, and theme).
  • Usage events. We track high-level, aggregated data such as the categories you view, whether a save or share succeeds, and anonymised analytics that help us understand which features are working.
  • Server logs. Like most services we record IP address, browser type, and timestamps when you visit. We keep logs briefly to troubleshoot issues and improve performance, then discard or anonymise them.
  • Contact messages. If you email us, we keep your message so we can respond and reference it later if needed.

3. How we use information

  • Deliver the news feed, including saving your language or theme preference across sessions.
  • Surface personalised rows like "Saved" or "Followed Sources" when you have an account.
  • Monitor our systems and alert our team when news sources have issues.
  • Detect unusual activity or abuse that could threaten the stability of the platform.
  • Communicate with you when you request support or report a bug.

4. Sharing & third parties

  • We do not sell personal information. Your account data is stored securely in EU data centres.
  • We use security services to protect the site from attacks. These services may collect standard request information to keep Chautari Hub safe.
  • When you click a news link you leave Chautari Hub and visit the original publisher. Any data collected there is governed by that publisher's policy.
  • If required by law, or to investigate abuse, we may share limited information with law enforcement. We will push back on overly broad requests.

5. Cookies and local storage

Chautari Hub uses cookies and browser storage for different purposes. When you first visit, we ask for your consent and give you control over which types of cookies we use:

  • Essential cookies. Always active. These are required for the site to function—remembering your language, theme, authentication state, and cookie preferences. Without them, basic features would not work.
  • Analytics cookies. Optional. If you consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Chautari Hub. This helps us improve the experience. The data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
  • Marketing cookies. Optional. If you consent, we may use cookies to show relevant advertisements and measure ad performance. We do not sell your data to advertisers.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, but some features may sign you out or reset your preferences.

6. Your choices

  • Review or delete data. From the account area you can remove saved articles and unfollow sources. Contact us to delete your profile entirely; we will confirm the request and erase the associated record.
  • Opt out of emails. We send messages only when you ask for support. If we ever launch a newsletter, it will include an unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you block cookies, use private windows, or install privacy extensions. Chautari Hub works with these options enabled.

7. Keeping information safe

We encrypt all traffic, restrict access to our systems, and follow security best practices. No service can guarantee 100% security, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your data.

8. Policy updates

We may revise this policy as the platform evolves. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, when changes are material, announce them inside the app or by email to signed-in users.

9. Contact
